Introduction
Introduction to Signature Projects:
  • In 1988 the Club chartered a 240 seat Airbus to view Victoria's ring of bicentennial beacons (as inspired by Sir Francis Drake and the Spanish Armada) raising over $6,000.00 for Rotary's Polio eradication project.
  • In 1990, the Club held the first of 20 Debutante Balls, which trained nearly 400 Debutantes and their partners, raising in total, over $93,000 for local charity projects.
  • In 1991, the Club organised a Charity Baseball event which raised over $9,000.00 for Camp Quality, Cystic Fibrosis, and other local charity projects, earning the District Significant Achievement Award.
  • By 2020, the Club had hosted 18 Charity Golf Days, which have cumulatively raised over $100,000.00 for "Very Special Kids," a charity which supports families in Victoria having children with severe health problems.
  • The Club completed 5 Sydney to Melbourne bike rides which have raised over $70,000 for research into Bowel cancer, Prostate cancer and Ovarian cancer.
  • Together with the Rotary Foundation, the Club has provided funds for the provision of safe drinking water wells, tanks and water infrastructure for several villages in Uganda.
  • Members also contribute regularly to a "Donations in Kind" project which sends over 50 containers/year of donated goods to overseas countries such as Timor Leste.
  • Altona City Rotary also supports many youth development projects for local school children and youth leaders.
